A place to visit in Santiago

Hi everyone, today's theme is a place to visit in Santiago. Even though the latter is a capital where a lot of people live and it is a rather polluted city, there places in it and around it that is worth knowing. Although for my taste I prefer natural green landscapes, this time I chose a place that is located in the commune of Quinta normal in Santiago, this is the Museum of Natural History. It´s funny because I was born in Santiago, that museum is very old, and I still don´t know it, although this city is big and there's a lot to know.

Since I was a little girl, I have been struck by this museum, because it contains and shows the history of nature in different aspects, native peoples, very old fossils, among other things. I think as people it's very important to know and understand about our history, what we are and what exists around us because that way we become more aware.

Well, so I found out the entrance for Chileans and foreigners is free and in terms of schedules, open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00-17:30, Sundays and holidays from 10:00-17:30.

I hope to be able to visit it soon and be able to live this interesting experience!

A subject I like

Well, as in every semester there are difficult bouquets and easy bouquets. This semester I am studying Diagnostic Pathology, Toxicology, Pre-Intermediate English, Diagnostic Bases, Reproductive biotechnology and Animal Behaviour. Each of them gives me knowledge and tools for the development of my degree in different areas. However, it has always caught my attention to animal ethogyology or Animal Behavior. From a long time ago, I am always observing the behavior of animals, that is, of something as everyday as the pigeon´s courtship, the whole sequence of the male towards the female up the way ants work or worm-hunting by the birds, which are typical things that can be observed in a city environment.

The field of animal ethology encompasses different species and their behaviors. Within ethology, the behaviors that animals have within their environment, whether domestic or wild, are described. I like this topic, as it is a way of understanding animals, of empathizing with them and knowing them in profunity, generating a better well-being in situations where animals are not in their natural habitat.
Animal ethology is of vital importance in Veterinary Medicine, because thanks to this we can generate best practices when we care for our patients.

What do you want to major in?


A tough question. To tell you the truth, is still have no decision that I am going to specialize, however I have concrete ideas of the things that I like and that I would like to develop later. I have always liked the area of exotic and wild animals, even as I have named in previous blogs, I have done work in wildlife rehabilitation centers, where I have been able to know, learn and integrate into the great work of this area, because it is not only the care of the animal, but the care of it´s conservation in the environment, and in this way it´s role in the ecosystem.


The area of medicine where the surgery is located has always caught my attention. I like to be able to understand why things, their origin and that way be able to generate treatment or in other cases perform surgeries. Within the specializations of medicine, you find neurology, I think it´s something that fascinates me. Understand how the brain works and develops. While in animals it is different, because thay do not function the same as humans, that is, you cannot talk about morality or ethics when it comes to animals, there are many functions of the brain that operate in the same way in animals and humans.

Gradually I will go to my way within the race, developing all those things in which I want to be good and that make me happy.

If I had to choose from many of the websites that exist on the internet related to the degree, to choose Scielo. The latter is an electronic scientific library, which has many areas of knowledge. It is a scientific library that has only provided me with information not only in areas of my career, but in many other scientific areas. This virtual library is free and is available in many countries through the internet, as scientists from different areas publish their studies. So too, there is valuable information about diseases, pathogenic agents, animals, public health, among many other things related to my career.

 I believe that since I started my trolley in Veterinary Medicine, I have internalized with this website, and the information it contains is reliable, it is an official scientific page, which is part of CONICYT´s policies to promote research and disseminate results. The latter generates security when searching for information it from this website, as it is reliable by the above mentioned. Another of the characteristics that this page has is that it occupies technicalities in the language, however, the understanding of the same is easy, that's one of the things that I like the most about the page, besides that it´s free, since many times you have to have a license or pay to access scientific pages or scientific papers.

Trips I would like to make...

The subject of travel has always been of my interest. There are many places I´d like to meet in and out of Chile. The planet Earth is made up of wonderful landscapes that are really a work of art.

Among the trips I have in mind for a future next within Chile is the "Torres del Paine" and Valdivia. I have traveled and known a little north and south of Chile, but I still have a long way to go. Within Latin America, I want to get to know Brazil, specifically Rio de Janeiro. Speaking of other continents, within my future plans I want to know Australia, for academic reasons, China and Africa. All the places I have named are composed of characteristic landscapes that determine them and each has a beauty that must be seen with our own eyes.

For my part, every time I set out to make a trip, I prepare, that is, work, I find out about those things I can do within that country, the meals, the proper security of the country, among others. It is necessary to know basic things about the place we want to travel, since we will finally be in a country that has another culture and customs.

I have always liked photography, although I mentioned that previous blogs. Today I want to share with about a photograph that is stored in my memory as a beautiful memory. This photograph was taken by me, shows the Chilean plateau, vast and pleasing to the eye, with the particular beauty, that when you find yourself in front of it, can´t stop looking and marveling at you. This picture was taken last year, in late 2018 on a trip to northern Chile.

I like it because it reminds me the good moments I had in that trip, and how happy I felt of being traveling at that moment, getting to know one of the many and diverse landscapes throughout Chile. This photo motivates me to continue traveling and knowing places both within Chile and outside it. Traveling fascinates me and fills me with happiness to see natural landscapes where man´s intervention does not yet exist.

Hi everyone, today we will talk about piece of technology ¿what is your favorite?


For my part, if I had to choose one for the practical and the number of applications it has, I choose the cell phone. My current phone I got it when the previous came to an end, the latter was many years and I was not careful. By making my everyday life and being university, I use it all the time, to make reports, work, tests, save study material, and then study it, including th use of alarm, since I don´t have a rooster to give me this function, I need the phone to set the alarm.

I love photography of natural landscapes and luckily this phone manages to capture the nuances of color, shadows and contours of an environment. I also like the idea of being able to personalize a device like the cell phone through funds, letters and housing, among others. It would be really complicated not to have a phone, because having family away or working is necessary to communicate trhough these devices. However if I could not have a phone, it would not be a bad idea, since I never liked to depend on the technology, or that this absorbs me, but for all the facilities it gives us, this well.

Hi everyone, as mentioned in the previous blog I have always wanted to study Veterinary Medicine, so I study this degree it was always within my purpose, being able to help animals through my knowledge, it's something that fills me with happiness. At the time of applying to the university, I had no degree options, but if university options. My only option was to study Veterinary Medicine and achieve it. Between to study to the University of Concepcion for three years and then I changed the University of Chile in Santiago.

The experience in university has given me a lot of things, both personally and academically, in the latter has helped me to be more organized and responsible. Personally being away from my family in Concepcion, helped me to be even more independent, stronger mentally, to take care of myself. The university has been a good experience, brings you closer to the future reality. Besides this race is what I always wanted to study and to do it fills me with satisfaction.

 Autobiography

Let's start where I was born. It was in Santiago of Chile, all my life I have lived there, but it was when I entered the University of Concepción in the career of veterinary medicine, I went to live in the eighth region. I was there for three years and for different reasons I returned to live in Santiago to finish my degree at the University of Chile.

My family is small, I have one brother, we are only two. But of part my mother and my father I have many uncles, they really are many. The family of my dad lives in the north of Chile, and the family of my mom lives on the central coast. I really like it travel to the beach, is a special place for me. 

Since young, I wanted to study Medicine Veterinary. I have always liked the animals and Medicine, it´s the perfect combination. I have done many jobs in the rehabilitation of wildlife and talking about of jobs I have worked in many places to save money for many things.

Between my hobbies, I have always liked to travel to different places. I also like to play piano and practice bodyboarding.
